Rossi, Hayden and Lorenzo After Race Comments

Valentino Rossi – Race Winner
`I think that those are the worst conditions in which I have raced in my career. Together with the new track and the new surface, there was also a lot of water and at the end the bigger problem of the wind. I was in front, and all the bags and beer cans were getting thrown onto the track by the wind. It wasn´t consistent and was very strong, so you never knew what was going to happen in the straight. I was in front and didn´t want to put my hand up, because I was leading the race, but I was looking for the red flag on every lap and when it came I think it was a good decision. Good work was done on the track to prepare for the race because the rain was coming down strong. I don´t remember when I last won four races in a row, but it means that I am in good shape and now waiting for Motegi.´

Nicky Hayden – Second Placed
`I had nothing to lose here; I had to go for it. The bike went good in the wet when it wasn´t so heavy in terms of water. It felt good to lead the race, as it´s been so long. When I saw nobody in front I thought `this is only meant to happen in the movies!´ Unfortunately Valentino came through, and had a little bit too much speed for me. I had a little run at him, but when the track had dried out we used a lot of rubber, meaning that when it rained again there wasn´t much tread pattern. Pushed to the maximum and really left nothing on the table. Thanks to all my fans, friends and team; it hasn´t been an easy road, and they´ve had a tough day out there.´

Jorge Lorenzo – Third Placed
`This is my first podium in the rain in all my life, even in the Spanish championship I never got one! For me it was a good result; not perfect as with one or two laps more I could maybe have passed Nicky. With the wind and his tyres going off we had the pace. Thanks to Yamaha –we have got two riders on the podium once again- next time I hope to do even better.´

2008 IndyGP
Written by Zorba Rose
Monday, 15 September 2008
Well, the innaugural IndyGP didn't get the start I hoped it would, but now I know what racing in hell must be like.

Sure it was amazingly trippy watching Rossi pull away from Hayden in Hurricane Ike. But let me tell you that when I felt the cross winds smack against me, I wondered what it felt like while breaking the ton on back stretch.

My friend Alex asked me "How can they see? I can't see them?"

I shook my head and asked Alex if he was suffereing from hypothermia. He shivered out a no.

That's what it was like to be a fan on Sunday.

Here is a video of the last stint so you can see the conditions yourself. It's the French broadcast.

For Immediate Release
PARKING, VEHICLE ACCESS TIPS FOR RED BULL INDIANAPOLIS GP
General public should enter IMS via 30th Street; avoid 16th Street main entrance
INDIANAPOLIS, Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008 - The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is prepared for the Red Bull Indianapolis GP on Sept. 12-14, the first motorcycle race at the facility since 1909, with a special parking and facility access plan for motorcycles and automobiles.
Approximately 26 acres of parking, comprising more than 15,600 parking spots, at the vast IMS facility will be dedicated to motorcycles.
While motorcycle and automobile parking is available on the west and south perimeter of the IMS grounds, the majority of parking lots - both inside and outside of the facility, free and paid-parking - are on the north side.
Fans that wish to park inside the IMS grounds should enter via Gate 10 on 30th Street. Gate 2, the main tunnel entrance off 16th Street and a traditional public access point for the Indianapolis 500 and Allstate 400 at the Brickyard, will be available only for credentialed and disabled parking.
'The Indianapolis 500 and Allstate 400 at the Brickyard are the two largest single-day sporting events in the world, and we have adapted our experience and skill in managing traffic flow within the facility at those races to fit the needs of the many motorcyclists who will ride to the Red Bull Indianapolis GP,' said Joie Chitwood, IMS president and chief operating officer.
As with every event at IMS, Red Bull Indianapolis GP fans should listen for traffic updates on local radio stations and pay attention to the direction of law enforcement officials, as traffic patterns can change.
More than 7,600 of the public parking spots designated for motorcycles on Red Bull Indianapolis GP weekend are free, with another 7,300 available for paid parking.
Parking 'pucks' will be available at each motorcycle lot, along with helmet and leather check stations.
A large, free parking lot for motorcycles will be located behind the North and Northwest Vista grandstands (oval Turn 4). Additional free public parking will be available on the backstretch of the IMS oval in limited amounts.
Free parking for automobiles will be available in the traditional locations: the 'North 40' lot just inside Gate 10 and inside Turn 3 of the oval in the IMS infield.
Access to the free parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Additional paid parking lots for motorcycles and automobiles, along Georgetown Road and along 16th Street, also will be available.
Four paid motorcycle parking lots are located on the west side of Georgetown Road between 25th Street and 16th Street. Two more paid motorcycle lots are on the south side of 16th Street just east of Georgetown Road and across from the IMS oval.
